Luc - New American Bible
Ecrit vers 80-90 pour des communautés composées surtout d'anciens païens, l'évangile de Notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ selon Saint Luc montre comment Dieu visite son peuple par Jésus et vient lui manifester sa tendresse. Médecin et grec, Luc est ami de Paul, qu'il a accompagné lors de son dernier voyage missionnaire et surtout de sa captivité. Né à Antioche, il s'est proposé de faire entrer le christianisme dans la littérature et dans l'histoire. Ayant effectué une enquête serrée, en bon historien il est allé aux sources. Dans la ville d'Antioche, où il s'est probablement converti, il a rencontré des chrétiens de la première heure. Lors de son séjour de deux ans en Palestine pendant la captivité de Paul à Césarée, il a été en relation avec Philippe, avec des disciples de Jean le Baptiste. Pour juger de la manière dont il s'est comporté avec ses sources il faut le comparer au récit de Marc. L'auteur est un esprit fin, indépendant, respectueux, délicat, plein de tact. Il présente souvent Notre Seigneur dans l'intimité de son Père : l'évangile de Luc est l'évangile de la prière. Le plan reprend le même schéma que Matthieu et Marc avec cependant un plus grand développement des épisodes de l'enfance.
